Does Windows2000 run faster in VPC than Windows XP? I bought a copy of Virtual PC for Mac without Windows, so I can install whichever version I want.. but I'm wondering which version of WIndows will run the fastest under VPC. Thanks a lot! James Windows 1.0? :-) I'd expect it to parallel relative performances found on hardware. I.e. on identical hardware, including virtual hardware, I'd expect Win2000 to run faster than WinXP. Does Windows2000 run faster in VPC than Windows XP? Actually I have heard that VPC has been optimized for 32-bit Windows, so it should run fastest with WinNT and Win2k. According to what I've heard WinXP will be slower than Win2k, but I'm not sure how it compares to Win9x. I'm still waiting for a version of VPC that runs on my G5 though... Windows 2000 support would only be at a professional level and not a home user level as well. And besides, Windows XP is a better OS than 2000 was, and has better support and easier "layout" to find things. Sorry, but 2000 is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than XP under VPC, so much so that it easily outweighs any differences in "layout," most of all which will be disabled choosing the Classic environment. 2000 doesn't have My Pictures type nonsense, that's all. I agree with Bruce, there are noticable performance improvements with 2000 over XP, regardless of how XP is optimized. At the rate Microsoft are dragging their heels, it'll be "VirtualPC with Longhorn" by the time we actually get the next version. :o\ Helpful Harry Hopefully helping harassed humans happily handle handiwork hardships ;o) |
