With VPC 7.0.3, an actual, official Windows cd will not Autostart or is accessable if you click on the CD/DVD icon in the 'C' drive My Computer window. I was able to load Windows software onto this iMac running VPC, but it was a couple years back. Need assistance. Thanks
Sounds like you are using the XP CD that came with VPC and not the Mac VPC
Install CD. My version of VPC with XP came with 2 CDs. One was a full MS
XP CD without the installer and the other was the VPC Mac install CD with
the XP pre-installed in the virtual hard drive. You need to use the other
CD that has the Mac VPC program on it and do the install from there in Mac
OSX.

Re: CD will not run in VPC 7.0.3Shouldn't the OP be able to install a retail copy of XP just fine? Why not? VPC was available without a bundled Windows for just that reason. I suspect that the OP just needs to make an .iso file from the cd and mount that with the emulated drive.

If he has a Retail version of XP it will install fine. The version of XP
that came bundled with my version of VPC was an OEM without any booting
capability. You could install it but a version of Windows had to be
installed first. Which is why it¹s just so much easier to use the Virtual
drive from the OSX install.

Thank you all for the responses.. I need to update my problem. I was able to successfully install both CDs from the VPC package. The Windows XP environment is working fine and I have been able to run the Microsoft Update to bring VPC 7.0.3 XP Pro completely up-t-date. But I need a program from Office XP Pro that I have also. When I place the original, authentic Office XP Pro disc into the drive of my computer, it will acknowledge that the disc is in the drive, but it won't AutoStart as it should; and if you go into the 'C' drive window and double click on the icon, you receive a message saying "Windows cannot read from the disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows". Now this is a authentic Windows CD. I am able to play a music CD no problem. Other PC application CDs receive the same message.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Like in my previous posting the Windows XP CD that comes with VPC is NOT
bootable or autostart. It is complete in every other respect though. If
you need files or instal stuff from the CD it is otherwise identical to a
Windows OEM XP CD.

Whoa Fred,
Need to read his post again, my friend. He already has VPC and Windows
installed. He's trying to install something from the Office XP disk. I
suspect that he's running VPC under Leopard and it's not recognizing
or reading the disk drive. He will need to create an iso image of the
Office XP disk in order to access it from Windows.

True CD/DVD drive access no longer works under Leopard. But also true is my
XP Pro OEM CD that came with my VPC 6 XP Pack is not bootable either. From
his post though if he can read the CD it does not sound like he is running
Leopard.

You're right.
If it will read and install VPC and Windows XP, then the Mac OS is
picking up the CD Drive and reading it.
So, with the original (not burnt copy) Office XP in the drive. Go to
Drives in the VPC menu bar and click on 'Capture Disk'
