I have virtual pc 7 and win xp on my mac powerbook g4.

my machine has a internal modem which is working fine in mac OS 10.4

But when i try to setup a dial up connection in Win xp SP2 through
virtual pc, , windows is not able to detect any modem.

I tried to install the standard 56k kbps modem out of the list in add
remove modem in control pannel and then i created a new connection
with the same settings as in my "internet connect" settings in mac OS
10.4 .But its not working
I tried all the possible settings i knew, namely on COM1, COM2 ports,
for modem. But still i am not even able to hear the dial tone and it
is giving an error message of some hardware failure for modem.

Can somebody please suggest where exactly i am going wrong and what
exactly should be the procedure i should follow to get this going.

Thanks for the support.

Ashish

P.S. I tried connecting the internet with a LAN connection, and it
works fine in both the Operating systems( Mac OS 10.4 and win xp SP2
in virtual pc)

Why would you want a dial up connection in Windows? VPC is set
automatically to Shared Networking. Just connect on the Mac side and
open Internet Explorer in Windows. There is no special configuration
needed for Internet access from Windows.
