Well, VPC for Macintosh is for PPC Macintosh systems only. Your MacBook
Pro is Intel-based and VPC won't run on it. I think including Office
and VPC together was some smart-a.s M$ marketing person's idea of
"synergy". Especially when the version of Office you have runs in
Rosetta's PPC emulation rather than natively on Intel. The next release
of Office due next year will probably fix that. But it's only a word
processor, spreadsheet, and presentation package, so you aren't really
stressing out your system much.
Bottom line, trash VPC. It won't work on your system.

Yes, but it's quite salable to a PPC Mac user.

My Mac g5 with Tiger 10.4.11 now asks me to restart whenever I get to the windows screen or shortly thereafter. It is driving me crazy, and doesn't work anyway. I have VPC 7 and am using Windows XP that came with it. It was all working yesterday, so I don't know what has happened. I have used Disk Warrior, reset PRAM, etc. Maybe it wasn't made to work with Tiger. Arraugh.

Sounds like something in Windows got corrupted. As soon as you start
booting into Windows press F8 key a couple of times and try and boot into
Safe Mode in Windows. If you are able to try and run ScanDisk and see if it
finds any errors. The issues you are having are solely on the Windows side
and Disk Warrior and resetting PRAM will make no difference to Windows.
Worse case if you can not get it resolved you may have to install Windows XP
from scratch.

Before you start thinking about reinstalling, go into the Advanced Boot Menu
as soon as the vm starts booting (I think you tap F10 until the menu shows
up). Choose Last Known Good Configuration. This may get you going without
doing anything drastic. If F10 isn't right, then try F2 or Del. I just
don't remember for sure.

Colin good point I forgot all about that. If you can get in via Save Mode
and XP has System Restore turned on you can choose a restore point from the
calendar in the utility to restore back to.
System Restore can be found at Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools

many previous working configurations.
