Virtual PC will not run on the new Intel-based Macs.
Any new Mac with Intel processors will allow you to run Windows
software, but they won't run directly under Mac OS X - you need a
helper and a copy of the Windows operating system. The three main ways
are:
- Apple's BootCamp http://www.apple.com/bootcamp
This allows you to install Microsoft Windows on a separate
partition of the hard drive and you can choose when turning
on the computer whether you want to run Mac OS or Windows.
To change operating systems you have to restart the computer.
This method gives you a fully compatible Windows PC (or at
least as compatible as any other PC box is.)
- Parallels Desktop http://www.parallels.com
This is a similar application to Virtual PC. It runs a
pretend Windows computer as a Mac OS application, and you
can run all your Windows applications inside a Mac OS window.
3D graphics acceleration card support has just been announced
so may be a little flakey.
- VMWare http://www.wmware.com
This is similar to Parallels Desktop, but I don't know much
about it.

I'd like to add Crossover to Harry's informative list.

http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/
Crossover runs Windows Apps without Windows, however not all Win Apps
are currently supported.

That is another solution. I often don't include it since compatibility
is so low, but if the Windows application you want to run is one of the
lucky ones litsed (or works if you try it yourself), then it may be a
good solution.
There are of course other freeware / shareware options as well, but
they are usually more difficult to set up and less compatible than the
"official" solutions to running Windows on a Mac.

That's why he said "VPC *or* MacBookPro". I think he was assuming the
use of one of the mechanisms you listed for running Windows on the MBP,
and wanted to know whether these 3 applications are compatible with it.
