iMac?

No.  Virtual PC is only for PowerPC Macs.  On Intel Macs you can use
Parallels Desktop, Apple BootCamp, or CrossOver Mac to run Windows
software.

Apple Bootcamp is free at Apple's site-
http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

Crossover is a free trial beta-

Apple's BootCamp is currently free because it's a Beta test
application. The application is said to be rolled into Mac OS X 10.5
when that gets released, at which time the freely downloadable version
will no longer be available and people still using Mac OS X 10.4 may
have to pay for the final application. We won't know for sure until
10.5 is actually released.

CrossOver is no longer in beta test.  But they do allow trial downloads.

CrossOver may not be a viable solution since it only works with some
selected applications.

I didn't even notice CrossOver was on that list. There is another one
missing, which is VMWare, http://www.vmware.com which I think is also
still a beta test product.

It's called Fusion and it's in beta.
