hi, all.

i downloaded vpc7.01 from my college MSDN site - the cd is not
available.  it was a zip file and it seemed to unzip ok, but the
installation is bad.  i get "authorization failure, please contact
support. (-11)"  the college help desk staff is WIN oriented, so they
couldn't help.

after that i unzipped it on my son's pc and it unzipped about 8
files.  i returned the files via flash drive to my mac and can't even
see them.  thinking the vpc7.02 patch was what i needed, i downloaded
it and it opened fine, only to tell me i need vpc7.01.

mac: imac g4 flat screen - tiger 10.4.8

anything i should or shouldn't be doing?  i.e., should the
Virtual_PC_7.01_(Macintosh).app file be on a cd for it to work?  (btw,
why is it an *.app file for the ma?)

please be patient and tell me everything so i can get this right.  i
have searched and searched many sites, including here, MSDN, and apple-
discussions, but can't find simple instructions or someone having the
same problem with the solution posted.  i can deal with it not being
compatible with my os, but all signs say this should work, so i'm a
bit perturbed.

thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, but I'll chime in. Don't know how the college deals with
licensing issues, but aside from corrupted files, I wonder if this is
the problem.

Otherwise, you can save yourself a lot of grief and buy a copy off eBay
pretty cheap. See a BIN for $90, lots of others up there cheaper.

after class i attempted one more try with student support at my college and
greg had the new vpc7.01 disk waiting for me...original file was incorrect
format.  Works like a charm.  Updated w/vpc 7.02 and the switcheroo is a-ok.
Now I need to load windows and see how she fares.

Thanks, everyone.  You too, harry.
