Hi all. I seem to have botched my XP login screen by messing with
admin status options. Now when I start my XP machine in VPC and I get
to the login screen, there's no username at all on the right side of
the dividing line, just blank space. I had previously just been using
an admin account for everything, which basically meant just checking
my webpage designs in various PC browsers.

Is there some way to reset this so I can avoid having to re-install
the virtual machine and all of my software? Please say yes, please say
yes....

Thanks for any help you can offer. By the way, it's VPC7, and XP sp2
on a G4 iBook 933 OSX 10.3.9.

I'll pipe in since no one else has. Don't think there is. Since you seem
to use VPC for much the same as I do, a new install won't take a lot of
time.
I did this a couple months ago for other problems. Gotta take the path
of least resistance. Aren't you glad you own a Mac?

Because owning a Mac prevents you from messing up your own OS?

Kurt and Steve,

Thanks very much for your replies. I was just about to post how I got
past my problem when I saw your messages. (Glad to know about safe
mode by the way.)

I did this: when my blank login screen came up, I used the Type menu
of VPC to enter ctrl-alt-del and that brought up a login field where I
could enter my password. Once I got in I made the appropriate changes
and I'm good to go again! And YES I'm soo glad to be using a Mac. I'm
reminded every time I have to start up XP.

Many thanks again,
Bill

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode, F8 at startup?

Where were you changing options?  Can you post a screen shot?
