When I try to install Virtual PC on my G5, non-Intel, it says I have to
be logged in with an administrators account.  I am the only
administrator!! I go to accounts and yup, only me as admin.  I have one
other user and it just says standard for them but Admin for me.  What
gives?  I tried un-installing and re-installing to know avail.  Help!

Something went wrong with the original installer. Insert the first
installation CD. Open the Manuals & Tools folder. Uninstall Virtual PC.
Restart your Mac. Try the installation again.

I assume you mean that Windows wants you to log in as administrator.
The administrator is the one with the final say for logging in and
passwords - in other words the owner of the computer.  Otherwise, there
is no difference between an admin account and a standard account.

If you do not want to be prompted for a password when you log in/start
up Windows, go to your Win Control Panel > User Accounts.  Click on
Administrator, then Create a password.  Type in the password you used
when installing VPC, then leave the new password fields blank.  You will
no longer be prompted for a password when you startup.

If your problem is that your Mac OS is stating you need to provide a
password in order to install the program, that is standard and will
happen for any program you try to install on the Mac.  If you didn't
setup a password, then find out who did and get the password in order to
install the program.

It actually is asking for me to be logged in as admin during the
installation process.  After I install  Virtual PC and before I install
Windows.  It happens after I am supposed to restart the computer.  When
it reboots it doesn't ask for me to type in any information but just
pops up a window that says I need to log in as an admin and I cannot
continue and the only button I can select is close.  The problem is
that I am logged in as an admin so I don't know why it says I am not.
I did uninstal the program and reinstal 2 more times and each time I
got the same problem.  It is not an Intel g5 so I am stuck!!.

joeyeray@gmail.com - 23 Jan 2007 21:41 GMT
I did.  read the last 2 lines.  I uninstalled it and reinstalled and
still had the same problem, tried a bunch of other things to no avail
so uninstalled and reinstalled again.  Still didn't work.

Hi.  I am also having the same problem on my G5, having installed, re-
installed, etc.  Have you been able to find a solution?  Oddly, I was
able to install, using the same disk, on my G4 17" titanium.  Any
experiences you have with success would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello.

What os are you using on your laptop...i have the same [g4 17 ti] but no cd?
The download from my college msdn site doesn't work on this or my imac g4.

Can anyone at all explain the *.app format of this download and everything
it requires for installation if I am administrator for both macs?  I only
get authorization errors and...nothing.

Thanks bunches.
