I have Mac OS X 10.4.8 on a PowerBook G4, with VPC 6.1 -
but ... Mac OS X will not accept the OS/2 Warp 4 installation CD -
does not recognize the format.

How do I get past this to install OS/2 Warp 4 on VPC ??
Is there some additional driver I need to install on
Mac OS X ??

Same question for Mac OS 9.2.

My e-mail is: aperel@juno.com

Thanks.

MacOS X can mount and read Joliet (e.g. Windows long file names) and DOS
format disks.  If the OS/2 disks aren't structured in either of those
formats, you'll either have to write your own filesystem extension or
find a 3rd-party extension that can read an OS/2 disk (unlikely).

If you try running VPC and clicking on "disk capture" (or something like
that), the Virtual Machine will take the disk for what it is.  If you
can boot the disk at that point, you may be OK.  Or the VM may not be
compatible with OS/2.  Is this disk one that came with VPC or a
commercial copy of OS/2?

Your only option may be to buy a cheap PC and toss your copy of VPC.

Thanks for the prompt response.

As far as I know, the OS/2 Warp 4 Install CD is just DOS format.
When I look at it on a PC, it appears as a normal DOS format.
On a PC - how would I determine what the format is (if not DOS) ??

The problem is: VPC cannot see the CD, because Mac OS X complains
about the format, and so will not mount it. So - VPC can't get to it.

A commercial copy of OS/2.

So -

you don't know of any 3rd party driver. I saw a note on another
URL that a fellow has gotten OS/2 Warp 4 up on Mac OS X VPC.
I sent him a note, asking him how he got around this problem.

He hasn't responded yet, so I tried this list.

Thanks.

VPC does not support OS/2
