XP PRO Install Fails

I'm using my own copy of XP PRO with VPC 6.1 under MacOS9.1.

I go through the install steps (create, boot from CD, etc., enter key,
etc.).  When XP reboots at the end of the install, it always hangs.  If I do
a clean install, I get messages that srclient.dll and framedyn.dll can't be
found.

I found a blurb on the XP support site about making srclient.dll and
framedyne.dll available.  I performed those steps and those error messages
went away.

However, I cannot access Explorer and Network Wizard fails.

Is there a way to make the install complete successfully?  Any other
suggestions?

I thought that XP Pro requires VPC 7 on MacOS X.  From what I've heard,
VPC 6.1 boots Windows 2000, not XP.

No, VPC 6 will work with XP.  VPC 5 was the last version to have some
problems with XP.

Is your XP a retail version or an OEM version?  Is it for or from a
different computer?
