Using  6.1.1 .VHD for Ver 7.0.2

I started in VPC with 4.0 & W2000 in OS9 in 2001. Later I upgraded to
6.1.1 .

With 6.1.1, I manually imported the W2K VHD from V4. (Page 19 of the
VPC V6 "Getting Started Guide).
So, I have NOT bought any VPC product from MSFT. This involved a
'conversion' of the Ver 4 VHD to Ver 6.

Is there an equivalent 'legacy import option' in VPC Ver 7.0? I hope
so.

Cheers, Jim B
=================================
BTW, I have run W2K for these past 5 years rather heavily, off & on.
The reason was to use IE with outdated JAVA apps that were 'welded' to
IE by some snotty nosed programmer...

I have NOT been forced to re-install W2K ever.
I hope I don't; There are over 60 patches installed plus SP4 plus the
Update Rollout 1. Think what it would be to start over with W2K Ver 1.0
and then upgrade to the present... !!!

I know,   XP is inevitable... but W2K has been so good to me... in
spite of the patches.

My G4 is now a 800MHZ model with 1GB of ram. I might opt for VPC V7
just to get a small increase in speed (maybe) and knowing I am running
the latest, stable VPC .

VPC7 has the option to import a virtual machine from a previous version
of VPC. Upgrading to VPC7, however, will not give you a speed boost.
That is a myth. There are no more updates available for VPC6 and there
will most likely be no more updates for VPC7. So, unless you're running
Tiger and need Virtual Switch networking, I would suggest that you save
your money.

Thanx for that suggestion... I just may keep V 6.1.1 until I go to
Intel Mac...I have no need to use Virtual Switch.

FWIW, I have discovered that Safari WILL run the javascript I use with
IE6/W2K!. So, no need (for me) to run W2K except for occasional access
to Framemaker  (Adobe no longer supports Macs).

The Safari access to the Server-based Java app runs OK, with a few
bumps but no errors.
However, the company that pays me for the work I do *adamantly* state
to use IE 6.0 and that Macs are NOT supported.
So if I go to the Safari solution, I guess I'll just have to risk that
I will NOT need their Tech Support for any future problems.

This company is VERY conservative, so approaching them with the Safari
connect could get me fired.

I DO hope that VPC becomes a MSFT give-away... Soon!

Cheers, Jim B
