I just re-installed my Mac (iMac G5 iSight 20") and chose to use a UNIX
file system rather than the Mac OS (journaled) file system, or HFS+,
and though everything else is running fine this way, Virtual PC (for
Mac) version 7 will not install at all, and for an "unknown reason"
too! I have looked into the installer package and can't quite figure
out how to bypass the installation checks, which I suspect fail to
establish if there is sufficient available disk space.
Has anyone had any success with this, or heard of a fix of some sort?
Thanks,
Frank.

I experienced the same problem, and with other programs, too, and I
realized that OS X is just too optimized to use a UNIX file system in,
it essentially requires HFSj (or plus, whatever you want to call it).
However... if you just re-installed it, I hope it is not too much work
to do it again. If you can't, email me and I will see what we can do
together, since I did experience a similar problem. I am on intel now,
so please remember, VPC is just memories for me.

The UNIX file system isn't supported by VPC, it needs HFS+ for
installation.

You could try creating a virtual disk with Disk Copy (DiskUtility or
DiskCopy) and install VPC on the virtual disk. I have not tried this.
And, I'd be in favor of using HPS+ as your file system too.

You cannot install emulation software in an emulator.
