Hi ... am new to MAC and new to VPC. Just bought VPC 7 and started to
install it. After the first reboot, when it shoudl have led me to
configure VPC, i get following message "permnissions for the support
files were set correctly, but virtual switch failed to load. please
report this to microsoft (code: A1004) ..."
any ideas what's causing this and how i can get it fixed?

thanks !

Virtual Switch doesn't work in Tiger until you install the 7.0.2 update.

download and install the 7.0.2 update at mactopia.com

Make SURE VPC is not running when you do this.

after you've installed 7.0.  Really.  I'm not being obtuse or flipant.

After you complete the installation of VPC 7.0, you can create your
virtual machine (install Windows). When that is done, quit Virtual PC.
Download and install the 7.0.2 update.

Hi,

I don't know if you've succeeded yet as I've only just noticed the post.

It sounds as though you may have the version that already *is* 7.02.  Mine
came as 7.02 straight out of the box, but the part number on the packaging
was that of 7.0 - only a small sticker had the 7.02 part number (X11-35009)
If it is and you check the readme file on the CD you'll probably see that it
actually tells you *not* to reboot.  The installation 'should' then go
smoothly.

No Jay,

If it was 7.0.2 to being with, you would not get the permissions errors.

notes) and Paul (hint on the update).

I've got it working now with a combo of what you both advised -
cheers!!

Glad to hear you're all set up now.  How do you find it - speed-wise?
Personally I find VPC can be annoyingly slow to respond a lot of the time.
