Hi,
I have an iBook G4 running OS X 10.4.6 (latest update). Also, VirtualPC
7 running WindowsXP SP4.
There is no internet connection from within XP at all. The PC doesn't
"see" any internet connection whatsoever. It was working fine until I
upgraded to OS X 10.4.6 this morning.
I don't believe that the OS X is necessarily the problem, but I thought
it could be important. \
Could anybody help me get my connection working?
Thanks!

Hmmm, this is odd, I'm not working either as of recently (can't say for sure
it correlates to the 10.4.6 upgrade or not).
I'm running VPC 7.0.2, on a quad proc G5, running 10.4.6
When using virtual switch it seems to work (at least until the system
panics, see other thread on that). When going back to shared networking
stops working.
In the past usually some combination of rebooting windows and switch back
and forth between shared networking and virtual switch seemed to clear up
the problem, however I've tried that and still not working in shared
networking config.
My host running VPC has an IP address of:
192.168.102.3
Which I cannot ping from the guest machine running Windows 2003 server. I
can ping the router for my home network which is at:
192.168.102.1
However, if I try to open a web browser and connect directly to the router's
IP address, which should bring up the admin interface to my router, Internet
Explorer just sits there and finally times out.
Are there people that 10.4.6 with VPC 7.0.2 and Windows is working?

I'm on a G5 iMac with 10.3.9 and see the same thing occasionally.
It is as though it cannot see the DNS. In those cases I found
that if I started up a browser (Netscape) from the Mac side, all
of a sudden, everything in VPC could once again see the DNS.
I have no idea why or if it is just coincidence. Try it and see
if it helps.

Thanks folks. I'll try some of those fixes and report back. In the
meantime, if there is anybody else experiencing similar problems with
OSX 10.4.6 and VPC 7.0.2, please chime in.

Looks like others are having my problem. I started a new thread not
knowing this one was going.

I used to run a network of virtual machines in iBook with Mac OSX
10.3.9 and VPC 6. EVERYTHING worked fine except the VPC itself was
extremely unreliable.
I switched to a newer PowerBook with Mac OSX 10.4. VPC 6 works there
with Shared networking only. This means, for a virtual machine, Mac
serves as a router. Virtual machines inside the Mac can see each other
but not the PCs (virtual or native) outside. You need a Vitrual Switch
for that. In order to be able to use Virtual Switch, which enables a
static IP address to a virtual machine i Mac OSX 10.4, you have to
upgrade to VPC 7.0.2. This fixes Internet connectivity but still the
virtual machines inside the Mac are not able to see each other.
I have to stress, that I never had any problems with Internet
connection in virtual machine. Check network settings.
I had a minor problem with internet connection on a Mac side after
upgrading to Mac OSX 10.4.5. Internet connection used to disappear
suddenly and was hard to restore. It is important to underline that I
used small wireless network connection both at home and work. The
problem was solved in the following way. In the airport menu, there is
an option "Use Interference Robustness". I turned it on and forgot
about any problems with Internet connections.
Still, my virtual machines inside the Mac cannot see each other. I even
tried to run VPC 7 in Mac OSX 10.3.9. No problem! My conclusion was
that Microsoft did not fix the Virtual Switch problem in Mac OSX 10.4
completely. But this does not relate to Internet connectivity.
If still you have problems, call Microsoft Virtual PC tech support.
They will help!

Yep, I've got the same problem. I'm running VPC 7.0.2, when I upgraded to OS 10.4.6, suddenly the internet connection on VPC doesnt work. No idea how to fix it though, sorry :(

Hve you done any ping tests from within Windows? What are the results?
