Upgraded from VPC 6.1.1 to VPC 7.0.2. Imported/Converted Windows 2000
PC from VPC 6.1.1. Windows 2000 and applications run but I can't get
the VM Additions to install or update. Is there a force function to
make this happen? I waited for Windows 2000 to finish loading and
selected Install or update additions from the PC menu. The hourglass
twirls for a few seconds then disappears. I tried selecting the DOS VM
additions from the Upgrade disk and it does the same thing. I'm running
an iMac G4 flat panel at 800 Mhz with 1G memory and Mac OS X 10.4.5.
Any hints or help appreciated.

Comparing a DOS installation and a Windows installation of any
application is completely irrelevant and meaningless.  DOS has no GUI,
no autorun capability, and many other things that are needed for an
installation to automatically start.

What happens if you go to My Computer or Windows Explorer and try to
run the setup.exe manually?

In this case, you have to go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control
Panel, remove VM Additions, restart Windows, then install VM Additions
and restart Windows again. Remnants of the original Additions are
present and are interfering.

In fact, you 'may' have to create a new virtual machine with W2K,
remove the Additions, update to XP and then install the Additions in
order resolve this.

I had a similar issue after installing a fresh copy of VPC 7 onto my
new iBook G4 and then Windows XP Professional.  The hourglass appeared
but nothing happened and it didn't install the additions.  So I ran it
again, and viola!  An installer launched and walked me through a quick
setup process for the additions and asked me to reboot after it was
finished.  Solved my problem!  Let us know what happens!
