I just installed Broadband on my Mac Mini 1.42MHz (Tiger 10.4.4) and
was given only a USER NAME and PASSWORD by my Server, so I installed
these on my Mac with PPPoE plus the Automatic setup of TCP/IP and it
connects and works perfectly.
But, when I tried to extend this to the VIRTUAL PC 7.0 side of my Mac,
also using PPPoE and the Automatic setup of the IP and DNS, it won't
connect...it gives me a message that says:
Error Connecting to Yacomadsl
Connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE)...
Error 769: The specified destination is not reachable.
Error 769
Either you specified a destination address that is not valid, or your
remote access server is down. Check the destination address and
try again.
I have checked the destination address and it is the same as the IP on
the Mac side, so I do not think that this is the problem.
What am I doing something wrong?

Do you have networking set to Virtual Switch? This won't work with
Shared Networking.

Actually, using shared networking would probably be better, since its
unlikely that the OP will be able to log in with 2 computers
simulateously.
Using shared networking for the VM will remove the need to use PPPoE
in Windows, since the Mac will already be connected to the Internet.

This might be more a DNS issue. Have you done any ping tests from
Windows? What are the results?

Are you sure your ISP allows multiple logons? Your best bet is to use
Shared Networking, then you only need to log on via PPPoE with the Mac
and Windows will share the nework connection like its on a LAN.
