I have a Packard Bell iXtreme 9087 that comes with a modified version
of Windows XP (comes on 4 'recovery' CD - software contents seems to be
standard - have a microsft 'start here' manual that has "for
distribution with a new Packard Bell pc only")

Will the "Virtual PC with Mac Version 7" that does not come with
Windows XP work with the Serial Number included from my packard bell
machine.

No, this will not work.

Another point.....this is illegal. The software is licensed to the
manufacturer and you are not permitted to install it on any other
system....as it states
