Need help with an update that doesn't know when to quit.
Attempted to load google earth. Couldn't progress without Direct X
settings, so I took the computer's option to try again later. Selected
Turn Off the Computer. Screen told me I was being given two updates
(without approval, nice!!) and now each attempt to restart VPC leads to
the same screen message: updating 2 of 2. When it finishes, the
computer promises to turn off, but nothing happens. I can get out of
the frozen wasteland by turning off VPC by the apple icon in the upper
left corner, but how do I get the software out of its loop? Thanks.

How long are you waiting?
Are you sure Windows is frozen?

I waited about ten minutes. I turned the whole system off and back on;
now the google software wants to link with the google server but won't
connect (in less than 15 minutes). So, I've dumped the google earth
installation, turned off VPC and am happy back in Mac land. I guess
i'll just wait for the Mac version of google earth to come out!

For what it's worth, Google Earth requires 3d Hardware support, which
Virtual PC does not offer (the video card it emulates is not a 3d card).

As for the updates... you gave approval by shutting down Windows.
There's an option on that screen to shut down without applying the
updates that are waiting.
