I have an iMac with VPC for Mac 6.1. I have a bunch of image files to
move from the Mac side to the PC side but every time I try to drag and
drop the files on the Windows desktop, I get an error message. I've
tried JPEGS, TIFFS, EPS files. Nothing works. I absolutely hate this
program but I have no choice but to make it work. Anyone know why this
is happening?

Hi!
Took some time to investigate the problem, and I have to concur
with you on this one!
Mac-to-Windows copying only seems to work under the following
circumstances:
- you have the Virtual Machine Additions installed,
- you have rebooted your system and logged into an administrator
account (standard accounts don't allow Mac-to-Windows copies
to work, probably due to some stupid permissions problem)
- your virtual machine is not heavily loaded (use Task Manager
from within Windows 2000/XP to monitor what Windows thinks is
your CPU usage... it's actually quite reliable, but not
entirely accurate for various reasons relating to timing)
- Virtual PC's background CPU setting is set to "high" or "medium"
in the Virtual PC application's preferences.
- you have not logged out of your account since Windows got
started!
However, Windows-to-Mac copying works more easily for some reason,
again relating to permissions.
If you log out and log back in, that too causes the feature to fail,
because for another stupid reason, Virtual Machine Additions thinks
you aren't logged into an account, I suspect!
So, yes, I agree... the feature is flakey. The best way around this
is to use a Shared Folder. Works all the time under any account
type.

Drag and Drop absolutely requires with Virtual Machine additions, and
yes, you need to be running with admin access to drag files from the
Mac to the PC.
