SAMSUNG i730 ACTIVESYNC 3.8 WINDOWS XP PROBLEMS

I am trying to get Windows XP to recognize my device.

Let me briefly explain the steps I've followed already.

Numorous clean install/re-installs into BOTH XP PRO AND HOME resulted
in the results over and over in both.

I did get the hang at 92%, wait for it, not even screensaver running.

Hardware is Mac G4 MDD 167 Bus, Dual 1GHZ, 2GB RAM.
Tested same in both 10.3.9 and 10.4.2 Mac OS.

Device shows up in device manager, and 'connecting to host' shows up on
device screen.  Activesync in windows never sees it, asks for
partnership, or anything at all, including generating log files.  It is
as if Activesync is severed from the USB.

Per recommendation from support:

New virtual machine with XP created
Activesync 3.8 download/installed
device attempt to connect in Connection Manager results in same
results.

In the device manager the device is recognized and working properly.
(NO YELLOW)

PC USB Settings are also MITs-i730 (checked)

This does work in 2000 pro (which i dont own) flawlessly using same
installation so possibly a security feature or other difficult to find
change in XP is causing this.

Really looking for someone who solved this in XP.

Any help is appreciated.

I just got an i730 myself but have not yet tried this. I'll try to set
that up this weekend and let you know what I find out.

I am anxious to hear your results in XP.  Have you had any luck???

Thanks for your interest!

I've run into the same problem as you. It works just fine in Windows
2000, but the device will not stay enabled or selected with Windows XP.

For others that follow Activesync posts, this was with Activesync 3.8
on a G5 1.6ghz running Mac OS X 10.4.2. It took 38 minutes to install
Activesync on Windows XP, and about 70 minutes in Windows 2000, but it
worked.

I'm gonna play with it some more, because it took a long time for
Windows XP to say that it installed the drivers for the phone, so
perhaps it was not done yet.

Well, i am watching closely for any new results you may obtain.  I am
thinking of using XP for Outlook and 2000 Pro when I need to install
.exe on phone.

Still hoping you will find the "block" in XP VPC 7 that would cause the
phone to recognize.

Just so you know,

For me, Activesync never spins, greens, or changes.  No logs are
generated.  Only the device screen and the Windows Device Manager
recognize the phone as present.

Thanks,

I'll be checking in.
