XP Pro Won't Start in 6.1.1

I am starting XP pro, but the progress bar just keeps running, and then the
PC restarts by itself, and the progress bar keeps running - well, you get the
picture. TIA for any advice.

Did you recently download and install Windows XP Service Pack 2? This
sounds very similar to the continuous boot issue that some users
experienced when installing SP2.
