I have a brand new installation of Virtual PC 6.1 with a virgin disk
image of XP Pro.
When configured for shared networking, I cannot get on the network. When
configured to use the virtual switch, I can get on the network with no
problems (I was able to 'activate' XP this way).
We use DHCP on our network and when in virtual switch mode, XP grabbed
an IP address without any issues. Shutting down and changing to shared
networking without making any network config changes to XP results in no
network connectivity (XP is still configured to automatically obtain an
IP).
My network's firewall licensing is based on the number of active IP's
and we're out of room. Using two IPs for one machine is not a good thing
right now.
This is on a 1.5Ghz AlBook with 1GB of ram.
Thanks for reading my plea for help.

What is your MAC IP address (look it up in System Preferences ->
Networking,) and what IP address was assigned to the Windows Client?
Also, provide the netmasks.
