Need to make harddrive bigger

The hard drive on my Virtual PC was set initially at 2GB. Its meant to
increase as needed.

However a lot of software (>650MB) will not install as there is not enough
free space at time of install.

How can I increase the size of the Hard drive manually?

Thanks,
David

I'm using Virtual PC 6.1

Use the Virtual Disk Assistant under the Window pulldown to convert your
static drive to a dynamic drive.  The system will then automatically
expand the drive size as you need more space.

Open Virtual PC Help.

Type in 'convert' (without the quotes)

The first  paragraph states that you cannot switch from fixed size disk
images to dynamic. You can only go from dynamic to static.

No, once you set the maximum size limit, it doesn't matter if you have
a dynamic or static disk image.  A dynamically expanding drive image
will only expand to the initial limit that was set when it was
created.

My drive is Dynamic already!
There is plenty of GBs on the real harddisk, but the virtual PC installers
don't see that.

The program I wish to install says I have 600MB available, however the
install program needs 1.2GB. Therefore the install forbids the installation.

This is a problem!

VPC must be installed to your boot partition. Once it is installed to
your boot partition, you can then move the drive image

Except that it can not be expanded beyond it's maximum size. A 2gb max
drive image will become a 2gb max size dynamic image.
