VPC 7.0.1 and Mac OS X 10.4.0 "Tiger"

The archive and install option left VPC in my dock, however, when I
clicked on in, the VPC installer launched claiming my program was not
installed or missing.

I let the installer run. My install CD was not needed or requested.

When I launched VPC, I received two error messages about files not
having the proper security permissions, so I clicked 'fix' for each case
and restarted my PowerBook G4 15" aluminum 1.25 GHz 1.5 GB machine.

After I clicked "restart" there was another message complaining that the
Virtual Switch networking was broken.

Restarting did not solve this problem, indeed, I received the following
error message:

===================

Virtual Switch networking could not be started.

Permissions for the support files were set correctly, but Virtual Switch
failed to load. Please report this problem to Microsoft (Code:
A1004). Virtual PC for Mac will run without Virtual Switch networking.

===================

Indeed, VPC 7.0.1 (with all updates and additions) does seem to work
with Mac OS X 10.4.0 "Tiger", but without virtual switch networking,
once it is re-installed and the security settings are corrected and the
Mac is rebooted.

I went to http://www.microsoft.com/mac/ and searched for a means to
report this bug, but, all I could find was a way to pay Microsoft for
someone to talk to me. Luckily, VPC7 is not a mission critical app for
me. For those who depend on it, this "Please report the problem to
Microsoft" with no obvious means for delivering the report seems to
indicate  that, yet again, something is more important than serving the
customer with Microsoft.

If anyone knows of a convenient, free way to report bugs with VPC7 to
Microsoft, please let me know.

This is a known issue, its been reported on the forums already, as
well as other places.

If VPC is critical, you should only run it on supported versions of OS
X, of which Tiger currently isn't, especially since its not officially
available until the 29th.

As Steve Jain pointed out, Microsoft already knows. They've been very
good about supporting Apple OSX with their products.

Microsoft has to test their software on a variety of Macs. When the OS
changes, a lot of testing has to be completed before they release any
patches. Hopefully this testing will go well and they can release an
update very soon. Remember, the gold master has only been around a
matter of days, so please try to be patient. It would be bad to release
an update that's not working properly.

The production release of Tiger only shipped on Friday. Microsoft does
not implement fixes for beta versions of software. So, we're just gonna
have to wait till they put together the patches and release a Service
Pack for these issue.

In the meantime, if Virtual Switch is mandatory in your environment,
don't upgrade to Tiger just yet.

It's now nearly a month since the Tiger release. I too use Virtual
Switching. Has anyone seen a solution posted anywhere?

No....there is no release as yet.

When it is released, it will be available at www.mactopia.com

But only a couple weeks since 10.4.1 was released...maybe MS is
waiting for 10.4.2, or 10.4.3...
