Mac Forum / Applications / Virtual PC / April 2005Security Updates for XP break Internet Connection VPC 7.0.1
I have just installed the three most recent Security Updates for Windows XP: KB893086 KB893066 KB890859 One or all of these break VPCs Internet connection. Does anyone have a work around or settings to change to make these work? I have had to discard changes to get the connection back. Thx, I don't use internet from the VPC side so I can avoid the security problems. Had to discard hard disk changes again (Glad I'm not going through all this on a real PC where this is not possible). Since my original installation of XP Pro Service Pack 2 is working fine should I even be concerned about applying these updates??? Well, I tried it a fourth time. I now have all security updates installed and the internet connection works fine. I believe that I was not waiting long enough for Windows to recognize the updates and configure itself properly before trying IE. This time I waited until all disk activity ceased on the disk activity icon, maybe two minutes after the desktop appeared normal. Sorry for sounding the alarm but maybe someone will benefit from this. |
