I have just installed the three most recent Security Updates for
Windows XP:

KB893086
KB893066
KB890859

One or all of these break VPCs Internet connection. Does anyone have a
work around or settings to change to make these work?

I have had to discard changes to get the connection back.

Thx,

I don't use internet from the VPC side so I can avoid the security
problems. Can you use it only in the Mac side?

I need the internet connection for a couple of applications for work as
well as having to use Internet Explorer for Windows every day.

The Mac side works fine and VPC did too.....until these Security
Updates. Since it is a Microsoft product I was hoping they would have a
fix or some info.. but nothing in the FAQs.

The Mac side works fine. I need VPC for a couple of applications for
work that require an internet connection and I also need to use IE for
Windows everyday.

What breaks is the shared connection between VPC and the Mac side.
Works perfectly without the security updates.

I went back and tried just one Security Update, the one with the lowest
number KB890859, the result is the same, loss of internet connection.
Had to discard hard disk changes again (Glad I'm not going through all
this on a real PC where this is not possible).

Since my original installation of XP  Pro Service Pack 2 is working
fine should I even be concerned about applying these updates???

Well, I tried it a fourth time. I now have all security updates
installed and the internet connection works fine. I believe that I was
not waiting long enough for Windows to recognize the updates and
configure itself properly before trying IE. This time I waited until
all disk activity ceased on the disk activity icon, maybe two minutes
after the desktop appeared normal.

Sorry for sounding the alarm but maybe someone will benefit from this.
