I am  trying to use a USB Device with my virtual PC (windows xp) and
not having any luck.
On the bottom of the Virtual PC window there are icons for network, cd
and
dvd's, hard drive, and USB. So when I goto my USB settings and enable
the
ports using the device its cool. But when I go to the program it says
there is
no device hooked up. So I go BACK to the USB setting in the Virtual PC
bar
and the boxed are UNchecked where I just CHECKED them.

I am running OS X 10.3.3

So my question is, How can I get my USB ports to talk to my Virtual
PC?

ANY thoughts?

For USB devices, Use VPC on System 9.

If you're saying that USB devices don't work with VPC + OSX, that's not true.
I use plenty of USB devices (printers, flash memory, cameras, mice, etc.)
with this combination and they work fine.

Some do work in OS X (e.g. My printer, digital camera and Wacom Pad) but I
have one device that uses a Belkin adapter and it will only work in OS 9.

You have to install your USB devices on the Windows side just like for a real PC.
Have you ever install a printer on Windows ?

I installed my Belkin on the Windows side. Still only works under OS 9.

Do you get OS 9 and OS X in the same machine ?
The problem is when it's the case you get an emulator, for one of the OS.
So how to emulate an other emulator just VPC on an emulator.
So it's the reason why it doesn't work.
This solution was transitory.
If you choose or OS 9 or OS X as an unique OS all work perfectly well.

Not sure I understand what you are saying. I have VPC installed on OS 9 on
my internal drive, in order to use my Belkin adapter. In order to save space
on my internal drive I installed VPC on OS X on an external drive. This was
after I had two versions installed on my internal drive, one for OS X and
one for OS 9. Are you saying that if I trash the OS 9 version my USB Belkin
device will work on OS X?

Your USB devices work all on OS 9 and OS X ? Or is it only your Belkin
adapter which works only on OS 9 ?
Because some people get trouble with USB devices when they get OS 9
and OS X. But it's possible also they are not able to install their
devices in a good way.
In my case, I get only OS 9.2.2 and all my USB devices are installed
on Windows and work pretty well: Epson Printer 760, Epson Scanner
Perfection1250, Zip 100 Mo, USB key...

If there is a driver and a software for your Belkin adapter on OS X,
it could be run on it.
But I read because of Classic which is an emulator some USB devices
don't work on the 2 OS. And work well on one only.

Which is in the States the best  montly publication for Mac ?
I was searching unsuccessfully  when I saw your message. Could you
help me and so I will be able to give you some evidences.
Unfortunatly, I'm able to give you only French evidences of Classic as
an emulator.

No drivers for Belkin on either OS 9 or X.
Only for Windows.

In my case the Belkin only works on OS 9.

Correct on Widows installed on OS X. Is it the same Windows than for
OS 9 or a different one ?

I think a lot of people read too quickly the getting started guide
when updating their version of VPC and that causes some troubles.
