Fedora linux on VPC7: Can't get eth0 to initialize

Hi,

I have searched high and low for an answer to this problem, but can't seem
to find one...

I have successfully got Fedora Linux Core 3 installed on VPC 7 for Mac OS X
and have the Linux install set to a Virtual switch for network and the mac
plugged into an  ethernet drop and airport turned off...

The Linux system recognizes the DEC 21*** card as eth0 which I have
configured for DHCP, but when I try to initialize the system complains that
the eth0 device seems to not be  present and won't initialize.  eth0 also
doesn't show up in the list from ifconfig...

I've tried lots of suggestions for configuring the linux system that I've
found, but all seems to be in order.

Anyone tackled this?  If you can help me, I shall build a small shrine in
your honor.

Thanks,
-Brian
