First off, I've searched for this topic and have been unable to find
one that helps me - however, if there is one out there I've missed,
please let me know. Second, I'm not fluent in networking, so any help
in a simplified form is immensely appreciated.
I'm on a G5 iMac and have been using an AirPort Express to connect
wirelessly to my printer (HP Officejet 7410) and my cable modem. I just
installed VPC 7 in order to use Quickbooks for Windows, and can't seem
to locate my printer. The funny thing is that I got internet access
right away through VPC 7, even before attempting to set up the AirPort
software. When I do attempt this, I first get a message saying that
Windows is not allowed to manage wireless networks on this computer; I
acknowledge that, and then later get hung up when AirPort Express
Assistant says it's unable to communicate with the AirPort.
I eventually got fed up with it, and attempted to set up the printer
through a USB port simply so I could print the documents I needed to,
but again setup (via the Windows disk provided with the printer) failed
to recognize the printer. Can anyone help me with this? Is this a
common problem? I can go through it again and offer more detailed
information if that would facilitate a response. Thanks.

In OS X System Preferences make sure SHARING:SERVICES is set to share
your printer and share with Windows.
Note that this sometimes resets after an OS X update.

A couple of suggestions:
First, open VPC, then click on Virtual PC, Preferences. Click on Virtual
Switch and select 'Airport'......that will set up your wireless connection.
Second, make sure that your printer is set as the default printer on the Mac
side.
Third, click on PC, PC Settings. Go to 'Printing' and make sure it says
'Default Mac printer'
Fourth, open NotePad or any word processor in Windows. Try printing
something.....select the VM Additions printer in the list.
Let us know what happens. If there is no error message, check the Mac side
to see if the print job is stopped.
