Hi Anyone reliase there is a problem to send out fragmented packets on
Virtual PC for MAC under Shared Networking Mode?

I tried to do the following ICMP ping test to www.yahoo.com.

Under command prompt:

ping www.yahoo.com -> replied.

ping www.yahoo.com -l 1210 -> replied

ping www.yahoo.com -l 1300 -> Failed, No replied.

ping www.yahoo.com -l 1500 -> Failed, No replied.

Conclusion, any packets size more than 1210 cannot be send out from the
Virtual machine(Windows XP/2K) on Virtual PC for MAC under shared
networking mode.

Any solution to this?

Thanks a lot.

By default, the MTU settings for Windows is 1500.

However, your ISP may be using something smaller if they use a PPPoE
connection. Take a look at the link below:

I had tried adjusted the MTU in windows, I'm connect my iBook to cable
broadband connection(throught ethernet). The maximum size of packets
can go through ping is 1213. I'm doing ping www.yahoo.com -l 1213 -f,
size above 1213 need to be fragmented. However, no matter how I adjust
the MTU, the fragmented packets cannot able to go through(is not send
out) from the Virtual Machine on Virtual PC under Shared Networking
Mode.
