I recently got a PowerBook G4 which a friend help me set up. We created
a 4.5 GB partition for the Virtual PC since I will use it rarely. When
I went to install it, I got an error message saying it needed to be
installed in the main portion with the Mac operating system. This, of
course, defeats the purpose and leaves me with a small partition. Any
suggestions? Is it impossible, or unwise to try to install it in a
partition??
Thanks.

Once you install the "hard drive" you can move it to the partition,
then do File>Open to get to the new location. The vpc program must be
on your main partition.

You don't need another partition, as the VPC drive is just a single
file/bundle on your hard drive.
Now that you have one though, install the application itself to the
main partition (it needs to reside on a partiton where there is a
system). The drive itself can be found in your ~/Documents/Virtual PC
List folder. Move that to where you want it, and then make an alias of
that file and place that back in the Virtual PC List folder.
