This probably falls under the "what could possibly go wrong?" category
but....

I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.10 - I need to remote to windows server 2003.
I tried the MS RDC for mac - it was way to slow.  I'm a windows
database guy who recently got a Mac for home use - but I can't let go
of MS because I make my money doing Sql Server database applications.
Mac is great - but damn - I wish it had dedicated home/end keys -
switching between my macbook pro keyboard and a full size keyboard is
driving me nuts as I use a lot of "ctrl+shift+end" type of keystrokes
to tweak database queries.  But that is besides the point.

My problem is that the RDC status bar is missing.

So now here is the setup:
Mac OS X 10.4.10 running vVMWare Fusion to >>
Windows Vista Business which is remoting to >>
Windows server 2003 64-bit which is actually >>
a VM being hosted under an actual windows server 2003 machine.

I'm sure there are just millions of people trying to do this exact
same thing <s>

Anyway - when I'm remoted into the 2003 VM - I don't get the yellow
RDC dropdown thing.   I have to run "Application | Launch"  It seems
to be randomly missing.

Just a minor annoyance.  Anybody who knows of a setting in VMWare
Fusion please let me know.

Thanks!

John not sure what you are doing exactly but i have a mbp and I
am connect to a windows server on the lan just fine using the mac
version of RDC. Not sure what the dropdown thing is...nothing yellow
here, just brushed metal. It sounds like u are using RDC on the
bootcampside in windows? If that's the case, don't do that...use the
mac side! As for the keyboard thing, its not hard to get used
to...just takes a week or so (i just went thru that). well, good luck!

Thanks for the reply.  I am using VMWare instead of bootcamp.  It
gives me a few more options (harddisk size can increase, I can change
the amount of RAM, etc).  And I'm resorting to windows to remote
because the RCD for Mac seemed super slow  ... and I think it limits
you to just one connection and I frequently have > 1 (my dev machine,
the db server, the remote machine that customers dump their files on,
etc)

I'm almost used to the MBP keyboard at this point.  <s>
