Hi, I have a HP PSC 750 printer that has worked fine for years on my
mac.  But now I've got a remote connection to my windows based work
environment and I can't get anything to print from my remotely
accessed windows machine.  My boss has connected remotely with his mac
and can get things to print on his printer (connected to his mac).
We've set my connection up the same way, but the printer set-up wizard
never can seem to find my printer.

Hi Noel!

I looked up a bit of information about the printer but I can't find
anything that says the printer is Postscript capable. Without
Postscript, you can't print to a locally attached printer through RDC.
That's a requirement.

Hope this helps! bill

Hi, Bill.

Thanks for doing that research!  So that's why when I'm setting up the
printer in Wizard, it can't find the printer?  Do you know of any
cheap printers that ARE post-script?  Or do you know how I find that
out?  I only need it for black and white text printing.

Hi Noel!

Unfortunately, a good Postscript printer won't be cheap (under a few
hundred U.S. dollars). The reason is that any printer manufacturer who
wants to use this language must pay Adobe a licensing fee.

If you're able to print to a nearby network printer instead then it may
very well be a Postscript printer. You'll want to check the printer's
installed "personalities". Most have PCL, others will have both PCL and
Postscript. Be wary of anything that says "emulated Postscript". Those
may not work for you.

Local printing to non-Postscript printers is a common problem. Be sure
to use RDC's Help --> Send Feedback feature to tell Microsoft you'd like
to see this feature too.

Hope this helps! bill
