Attempting to use RDC to connect to a Windows XP (Home SP1) box on a
LAN is met with the ubiquitous:

The client could not connect to the remote computer.

Have connected to other Wintel boxes sometime ago (Jaguar; 10.2.x?).

Other Windows boxes can connect to the desired target so it seems to be
set up fine.

VNC between the PB and target works fine in either direction.

'tcpflow' (commandline sniffer) appears to indicate that no attempt is
even being sent from the Mac but instead it errors immediately.

Any hints, suggestions, etc. greatly appreciated.

RDC won't connect to Windows XP Home.  It would have to be Windows XP
Professional.  Remote Assistance still works on Windows XP Home, but not the
Remote Desktop feature.

Hi James,

I noticed that RDC 1.0.3 stopped working on my MacBook Pro ONLY after I
updated my J2SE 5.0 Release 4 from Apple. It now just launches and
hangs. I also removed and re-installed RDC without success.

Any idea where I forward information to Apple on this. Yesterday, I
found another blog where you mentioned something about it being an
Apple Interface problem, but lost the link/page.

Thanks,
Bill
