Most likely, there is a firewall at your office, which points
incoming rdc connections to a Terminal Server at the office.
You will have to speak to your system administrator to see if they
allow incoming rdc connections to workstations.

Yes, there is a firewall but rdc connections are allowed as I can enter
my desktop via a laptop running on Windows XP. Could it have something
to do with Active X Control?
When I try to connect via the webbrowser (Safari) I can get into
outlook, but not into the remote desktop. When I try to open my desktop
I get an error message saying I have to install Active X Control but
that my brower settings prevent from doing this.

ActiveX controls are *not* compatible with the Macintosh
OS. You cannot install a Windows32 executable on a Mac, so you
can't use a webbrowser to connect to your PC at work. But an rdp
client should work.

Its nice to see that so many people are able to use RDC, I
unfortunately cannot talk to my PC from my Mac at all. I tried
mounting the HD, RDC, and even pining; all were unsuccessful. I setup
the PC to accept RDC, and am successfully able to connect to my mac
from the PC. I tried turning off Windows Firewall altogether, as well
as my antivirus software.
I have the two machines connect to a router via ethernet.
PLEASE HELP!!!
thanks, Andy

There was a recent posting that pointed out that if you are using
simple workgroup networking that you will need to use the PCs IP
address as only domain based networking will look up a name.
You can mount the volumes but until you use that ip number RDC
won't connect.
I spent several days trying until I noticed this advice. Still
have not found the resriction in the documentation.
That explains (maybe!) why I could never get RDC to connect to VPC as
some have pointed out that RDC renders faster than VPC.
