Now that Apple has announced that WWDC 2008 is completely sold out
(first time in conference history), there are no doubt a number of
people wishing to go but are out of luck.

I see a WWDC 2008 Ticket being sold on Ebay, which at the time of this
writing, has no bids and a starting price of $500.  The auction ends
May 20th:

Note: I am NOT the person selling this, so I do not know anything
further than the fact it is on Ebay.

It didn't stay there for long.  It currently has 27 bids with a going
price of over $2500, about a grand more than a regularly priced
ticket.

Although one does not typically expect to see ticket scalping for
techno-geek conferences, a Steve Jobs event does seem to inspire a
great deal of enthusiasm.

There's a lot more reason to go to WWDC than to see Jobs' keynote.

To be sure, since Jobs' keynote is available via Webcast.  In fact,
everything BUT the Stevenote is under NDA, and thus real "value" from
attendance would take place afterwards.

I'm just glad I got my e-ticket in time.  :-)

Ebay now has 5 auctions going for WWDC tickets, with highest bids of
$610, $1300, $1675 and $3,550.  (I'll bet the guy with the losing bid
of $3500 is relieved.)  There is also a Buy-It-Now/Best-Offer auction
with a starting price of $5800, but no one has bitten that one.  The
$1300 auction includes hotel, but is a Reserved Auction, with the
reserve not met (which is lame).

With increased availability of tickets on Ebay, I can't imagine seeing
any more of these inflated prices.  Still, people with ADC premiere
memberships get a free e-ticket, and if you're not going to go, you
might as well sell it to someone who does.
