Recently I have had trouble when using this printer which is that it
keeps telling me that I have installed 2 Magenta cartridges. Initially
I thought the flashing lights indicated that the Magenta cartridge
needed replaced, but it was almost full of ink and so I put it back
in. I had noted previously that on another similar occasion the
cartridge which I removed and replaced had had quite a bit of ink left
but I had replaced it anyway.

Now I have to fiddle with cartridge out & in until the printer gives
in and allows me to get on with the printing.

Is there anything I can do other than 'Update' the ink levels in the
Maintenance Utility which kas not worked for me so far?

Thanks, Robbo.

It sounds like you have one or more defective ink cartridges. If I were
you I would contact Canon support to get those cartridges replaced.

I took your advice and contacted Canon who referred me back to the
supplier of the ink cartridges. they declined to act as the cartridge
was more than 1 year old. After fitting a new cartridge the printer
appears to be ready for work.
