I've been trying to copy/paste text from an .rtf file into a pre-formatted
Powerpoint presentation but, for the life of me, I can't get that text to
adopt the text formatting of the Powerpoint template. Using "Paste>Special"
hasn't helped at all.

How can I paste text into a formatted text field and have it pick up that
formatting?

I should have mentioned, by the way, that I'm using Office 2004 on MacOS X
10.3.7...

You have to reapply the slide formatting of that particular page and it
should change the type within the text box.
