In powerpoint 2004 for MAC OS X, in the left pane in normal view it
displays the fonts I am using instead of something nice and simple,
like it did in MAC Office X. I can't read the wording because I am
using some fonts that just get all crowded together. Is there a way to
have the pane just use a simple font?

Hi,

While the cursor is blinking on and off in the left pane use the Zoom
control on the standard toolbar to increase the zoom level. The text can
be enlarged as much as you want. You can drag the dividing line to a new
location if you want to.

That helps some, but I have to have the pane take up 1/2 my screen to
be able to read it. Is there no way just to have the font used in the
left pane be a nice simple font?

Yup.  Choose View, Toolbars and make the Outlining toolbar visible.  At the far
right, there's an "A/A" icon.  Click it to toggle between formatted outline
text and text in a rather plain font.

Click in the outline view and use View, Zoom to change the zoom level for the
outline pane only.

Works like this in PPTX, I imagine 2004 shouldn't be too different.
