Normally, you select the text then choose Format, Bullets and Numbering.
Click the Bulleted tab
Click Character
Under "Bullets from" you'll see [Normal Text]
Use the scroll arrows to choose a different font.
One possible hitch that you might be running into: PowerPoint only shows you
symbol fonts in this selection box. If you don't have any symbol-type fonts
installed, all you get is [Normal Text] if I remember right. Here with a
default install, I get Wingdings, Monotype Sorts, Symbol and Webdings as
alternate bullet font choices.
