Dear Guys,

It seems to me that PPT has never allowed me to embed .mwv file or .avi
file in the slides.

It has never been a problem for me to embed .mov or .mpeg files.

Does anyone out there have the same problem or it is just me?

Thanks.

Do you spell wrong the word-'.mwv' ?  If possible , PPT can embed .wmv
file and .avi file in the slides.

I guess the original post indeed meant .wmv... PPT for Mac only accepts
what supported by QuickTime. WMV files sure aren't ;-)

But this is so strange.   PPT is from the mighty Microsoft and .wmv is a
Microsoft Media Player format.  Why can't they make it work?   Sigh...

WMV is a window media format. This is deeply embeded in Windows.
The MacBU makes Office for Mac but no one knows exactly who makes WMP
for Mac (and I guess that considering the zillion bugs in this app, they
don't want people to know who made it).

Office for Mac is made by Mac people for Mac people. They decided to use
all the MacOS resources they had (including QuickTIme).

WMP is not a MacOS resource and they don;t make the app. It makes sense
to me (unfortunately) that the support is not there in the Mac version
:-(

Thanks for the insight.   I guess no one really understands Microsoft.
But it is OK.

My little frustration is that I need to use clips in .wmv format from
time to time and I don't have a converter (if any) to convert .wmv to
.mov format.   I just have to live with it for now.

Depending on the exacto codec used, you can try ffmpeg X, or D-Vision
(based on the same core). They should be able to export in .mov, and if
not, at least to .avi (in a format you can play in QT if you install the
DivX and 3ivx codecs for QT).

Ther is also Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus, but I never tested it (too expensive
compared to the other two IMVHO).
