Print 3 slides with notes - too small!!!!

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

The option to print three slides with notes on the side. In the preview the three slides and notes only fill half a sheet of paper altogether, thus rendering the slides and area reserved for notes, so small it's practically useless. How do I make the three slides and notes cover the entire page?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It's a bit unclear, but you get the idea.

I've never seen this nor can I force it to happen here no matter what
combination of settings I try... Which is certainly not saying it can't be
happening by any means. Since it doesn't appear to have roots in the Page
Setup or Print settings it suggest an external cause.

Make sure Office is fully updated (12.1.2), same for OS X (10.5.4). Also
check the mfr's site to see if there's an updated driver for your printer.
Then repair disk permissions, Shut Down & see what happens when you start up
again. If the problem continues try from a different user account. Reply
with your findings/results.

Office is fully updated (12.1.2), OS X 10.5.4, my Canon printer drivers are the latest, and disk permissions are in order.

I only have one account on my Mac, but will try and create a new account just in case.

You don't by any chance have a smaller paper size set do you? Check the
settings for Scaling as well.

A4 is set, and I've tried scaling both on and off, still, same result.

Seems that this problem is related to a specific powerpoint presentation. The other ones I've tried to print in the same fashion, turn out like they should. Weird!

Have you checked in File> Page Setup to see what output format the slides
are sized for? What can you tell from View> Master> Handout Master?

I honestly don't know what else to suggest. There must be *something*
different about that specific file - it's a matter of figuring out what.

It's set for On-screen show (4:3), width 10 inches, height 7,5 inches. Slides are set to landscape, while handouts are set to portrait (I believe that's what the icons are called, but it doesn't say landscape or portrait specifically). I've tried manipulating the width and height values, but that didn't help either.

In View > Master > Handout, everything seems to be in order, e.g. the template is set to output three large(!) slides per page, along with header, date, footer and #.

Strange thing is, other students in my class (PC users), have been able to print out proper handouts of the presentation, but not me, no Sir. I could obviously ask someone to print a copy for me, but it'd be nice to figure out what going on anyway, for future users experiencing the same problem.

I appreciate the effort to help, thanks! :)

Is everyone printing the *same file* or separate *copies* of the same source
file? The only thing I can think of is to obtain another copy of the file
from one you know to be printing correctly & see if that makes a difference.
If the copy you have was downloaded from a source it's possible that your
copy is damaged. IOW, unless everyone is accessing the one file from a
central shared location each copy is a different file.

Everyone is accessing the file from a central location, so it *should* be the same.

Well, if the file is in a shared location ‹ not being *downloaded* from a
"central location" ‹ I don't know what else to suggest.

There should only be three sources of error: The file, the printer driver &
the print settings. If other files print OK it rules out the last 2
(assuming the settings are the same in the files that print correctly as
they are in the one that doesn't) and if you're sure it is the same file
rather than a different copy it pretty much rules out the first.

Is there anything about the content of the file ‹ such as Comments inserted
by PC users or elements outside the perimeter of any slides? Anything else
that may make it "different" in some way from the files that print the
handouts as they should?
