Clip Art Gallery will not open. i cannot insert pictures from the clip art gallery. Any way to get it opened? I've deleted and reinstalled Office 2008 four times...and still this is happening.

There isn't enough detail in your message to offer anything specific except:

*Stop Deleting & Reinstalling*

As you've proven repeatedly, it *rarely* corrects anything and will more
likely make matters worse. That's a PC technique that just doesn't work & is
an utterly unnecessary waste of time on a Mac. The files that may be causing
any given issue aren't even touched by reinstalling [complex] apps.

Based on what you've already been doing make sure you have also re-applied
the 12.1.0 & 12.1.1 updates, repair disk permissions & restart your Mac
after a 5-10 minute "rest". Then come back with specific details about your
specific level of Leopard, how you're attempting you access the Clip Gallery
and what exactly does/doesn't happen when you try... "Cannot Insert"
discloses absolutely nothing of value, I'm afraid.

I am having the same problem.  I have just upgraded to 2008.   To get clipart
from Microsoft I have been doing the following:
Go to Micrsoft.com/clipart via safari, using Firefox under 2003 was causing
problems.
Find the clipart I want
Press Download, this then initiates the download in Mac and the files are
saved in in my download files with an extension of .cil
When I select the .cil file it then attempts to download to my favourites in
Powerpoint but instead of this happening sucessfully like it did for 2003, I
get a 'Microsoft Clip Art Gallery has experienced a problem.
After you send the microsoft error report, microsfto clip art gallery
attempts to restart, but then you get a message - Clip Gallery can only be
launched from office, click ok to quit.
I have restarted PC (but not reinstalled) many times and the same occurs.
If I also try and select FAVOURITES in Powerpoint-Clipart, message Microsfot
Clip Art Gallery has experienced a problem (same as previous one).  Selecting
other clip art folders works fine.
I have upgraded to 12.1.1 and 12.1.0 versions (although I am surprised to
see that this error message does not show 12.1.1, but maybe powerpoint was
upgraded)
I have Leopard 105.4 (checked and I am not missing any updates)
Can you help as it is critical I have this capability for my studies,
otherwise it is back to 2003 and try and get a refund.

Hi Robyn -

Your problem is a bit different... Try repairing permissions & see if that
helps. The error seems to involve only the Gallery which shows the original
version because it wasn't directly affected by the updates.

When I download a clip art picture I receive an error box which reads "Attempt to open database file Clip Gallery User Database failed". I have Office X for Mac on an iMac with Leopard. Any suggestions? Thank you!
