How do I stop images going blurry on the Mac PowerPoint (2001)?

Whenever I Insert or Paste an image into a PowerPoint document it goes
horribly blurry. I've tried Google searches, but only seem to get
"solutions" for the Windows version involving saving a slide as a WMF
image and re-importing that.

Does anyone know how to stop this awful corruption on the Mac version?

Oops! I should have said I'm using Mac OS 9.2 in case it makes a
difference.

Don't waste your time. Blurry images is a feature of Microsoft products
- the same thing happens in Word and Excel. They're simply disgusting
applications that don't work properly. Switch to Apple's iWork and be
happy with something that works as it should do.

Thanks for your insightful & constructive contribution - perhaps you can
provide some equally enlightening suggestions on how the OP might "Switch to
Apple's iWork..." while running  OS *9.2*.

Since I was the only person to offer ANY answer at all it is apparently
the only correct answer, which is no surprise since I've been forced to
try to get decent images out of various versions of Microsoft's garbage
for years with absolutely no success.

I appreciate your opinion of MS software to which you are fully entitled.

I would expect, however, that the reason for lack of response is the age of
the software & OS version involved. There are most likely very few - if
any - participants in the newsgroup with a memory sharp enough to accurately
recall that far back and those who might be willing to respond would want to
confirm their suggestions first. That *might* be difficult since it's just
as unlikely that there happen to be folks tuned in here who have such a
configuration sitting around "just in case".

Responsible replies are not based on speculation & guesswork... or obviously
prejudiced disinformation. The silence - unfortunate as it may be - is based
on a matter of principle & newsgroup ettiquette observed by mature
individuals: If you don't have a constructive reply to offer, don't reply at
all.

All you've done is say the same thing I said, just using far more words.

Nobody actually knows how to make Microsoft's programms work as they
should work, not even the so-called experts at Microsoft itself.

This blurry problem happens with every version I've ever had the
misfortune to use under both OS9 and OSX, although I will say I have
not yet been forced into using the new 2008 versions.

To my recollection, PPT 2002 for Windows had "fuzzy picture" problems as
well. I remember that the screen quality in slide edit mode of JPEGs was far
less than stellar. The images looked better in slide show mode. And I
believe that the JPEGs displayed much more clearly in PPT 2003/Win. I wonder
what that whole issue was all about. I could never pin it down, but I
remember that this aspect of PPT 2002/Win was a sort of a de-evolution in my
mind for that reason.

On the Mac side, fortunately JPEGs posted in slide edit mode in PPT 2008/Mac
look fairly crisp. They seem to look a little better in slide show mode for
some reason. But the difference is hardly noticeable. So whatever issues
there were with PPT 2004/Mac regarding JPEG display quality seem to have
been addressed.
