I will try this again as I failed previously to describe my problem. I do safety training for an organization on contract. The training is done with overheads or Windows generated PowerPoint Show files. The PPS files are password protected to keep others from modifying the presentation. These PPS files run fine with windows. I could not run the presentation with PowerPoint from Office 2004 on the mac as it says I needed a later version of PowerPoint so I used overheads or a borrowed Windows laptop. Now armed with Office PowerPoint 2008 I felt my problems were solved. However to my surprise the PowerPoint Show will not run I get the message. "This presentation is protected by a password or Digital Rights Management (DRM) To access the presentation, you must have a version that is not protected by a password or DRM." Why won't the PowerPoint Show run on a mac? And if not what good is PowerPoint 2008? You have the choice of saving the 'exe' file and extracting the PPS file later or installing (unzipping) the PPS to your hard drive. Please note that all PPS have been checked for virus before uploading and password protected to prevent changes. All PPS will be created using PowerPoint 2007, if you do not have PowerPoint or are using a older version of PowerPoint please download the PowerPoint 2007 Viewer for Windows. I thought that to run a PowerPoint Show files no password would be needed as you don't need it with windows. I thought opening it was being construed as in opening a ppt with editing ability. Thankyou for the clarification though it wasn't what I wanted to here. Looks like windows wins again. I always tell my windows friends I can do anything the can. Not this time.
