Can some kind person please confirm if I can use Powerpoint (Mac) to compress
an image and make it smaller  but still retaining the whole image.

I have saved a jpeg image to my hd which is 165 kb in size. I need to
compress this to 128 kb in order to post on a discussion group. I do not want
to crop it and loose part of the content. How can I do this please.

You can't actually edit the original, but you can use Insert> Picture> From
File to put the image on a slide. Then Control/Right-Click the image &
select Save As Picture from the contextual menu.

Just follow your nose from there:-)
