Inside a text box in Power point I am trying to change the default shadow color of the text to black. My default is grey. I don't want to change it every time I use it. Where do I change the default color to black in the shadow dropdown box. Sorry, Donna, there are no shadow color options. AFAIK, it can't even be changed programmatically. Your only alternatives are (a) WordArt, or (b) create the text as a graphic object in another program and place it on a slide as you would any other picture. Hi Donna, After you adjust the shadow settings to the desired color, notice that while the text is selected in the textbox that the border of the text box is visible. Right Click (control-click) on the border and choose "Set AutoShape Defaults" from the pop-up menu. Any new textboxes that you add in the presentation will have the settings you chose by default. You can make a variety of templates with various settings, copy and paste from one presentation to another, save a default template, and use VBA to script all of this, too. You're right: If you use the shadow button on the text formatting toolbar, PPT picks the shadow color for you. Jim's right: If you use the shadow button on the drawing toolbar you can change the text dropshadow color (and offset and direction and other goodies). If the text is in a filled shape, the shadow gets applied to the shape rather than the text. If the shape's unfilled, you can control the text shadow this way. Doesn't the shape have to be set to No Line as well as No Fill? Otherwise the same shadow effect is imposed on both the text & the shape - at least that's what happens in the PC version.
