remote control doesn't work correctly with Canon LV-7265 projector

Greetings,

I recently bought a Canon LV-7265 projector to use to show my
powerpoint slide presentations.

It came with a battery operated remote control and a mouse receiver
device that plugs into a USB port of my MacBook Pro. According to
Canon, the page buttons on the remote control are supposed to advance
my powerpoint presentation.

However, the "page" forward and back buttons on the remote control do
NOT advance (or reverse) my powerpoint presentation.

They do work to scroll up and down in MS word, and the remote and the
mouse detector seem to work in many other ways (ie. I can move the
arrow around the screen by using the arrow buttons).

I can even advance the powerpoint presentation using a left-click
button on the remote, but I have no way to go backward unless I use
the keyboard and bring up menus on the screen. But I want to give a
clean slide presentation so this isn't really an acceptable solution.

At this point, I am trying to figure out where exactly the problem
lies--is it with the remote, with the mouse receiver, or in a
fundamental incompatibility with powerpoint for the mac?

Also, is there another kind of generic remote contol I can buy that
might do the job?

I'd appreciate any help on this since I am relatively new to using
powerpoint.

I'd lay it at PPT's feet since:

- It works as expected in your other apps and

- PPT seems not to respond to Ctrl+Click or rightclick with a two-button mouse
as it would on the PC version.  At least it doesn't here ... could you give it
a try at your end?

I have been unhappy with all projector remotes: they always have too
many options. Instead have bought more than one Interlink VP4150
RemotePoint Navigator. This remote uses PageDown and PageUp correctly
on a Mac and on a PC. It's wonderful.

As for "backward," check that you have turned off the right-click menu
thing. Go to Preferences and choose Pop-up menu on CONTROL+mouse
click.
