Hi,
I know PowerPoint 2004 can open PowerPoint documents made in PowerPoint 97
and later both mac and windows.
Do you think your files are older than that?

Some are made in office 98
I used to have in my older mac system 9 classic with OS-X;
and used to have the old version of office on the Mac.
However, the old mac crashed.
The new MacBook does not allow classic 9 in it.
But I have many files worth of 100s of hours of work
which I may need from time to time.
The other files, words and excels, open fine with the new
mac. Only the power point files give me troubles.
The application tries to open it, then the message come:
The file may be corrupt, in use, or of a type not recognized by
PowerPoint.
I see the first slide in the preview small window. But unable
to open the file.
I hope you can help!

Ordinarily, there should be no problems opening PPT 98 files in 2004.
