Pardon the obvious answer, but you first need to purchase the appropriate
version of Microsoft Office then follow the instructions for installation.

Legitimate copies are *not* available for download, if that's what you're
trying to ask.

Hi Claire,

If you're not sure if you want to purchase office you can try it for 30 days
for free.

Many Mac computers ship with the 30 day trial already installed. Look in
your Applications folder for Microsoft Office.

If it's not there you can download the 30 day trial for free:

If you are a student or teacher there's a huge discount. About $99 US after
rebate (expires Sept 3)

If you can't swing the price of office you can try OpenOffice or one of its
derivatives such as NeoOffice. Both are free, but neither one is good enough
to use in place of Microsoft Office (IMHO) unless all you need is occasional
use. You might be able to get by with OpenOffice Calc (the Excel equivalent)
but I think The PowerPoint equivalent is crappy. Set your expectations low
then decide for yourself:
